Event Overview:
Approximately 400 Junior & Senior High School students, who participate
in various College Tech Prep Programs throughout the State of Ohio, will
present unique technical projects in hopes of winning scholarships & prizes.
Students will have eight minutes to present and/or demonstrate their projects.
Following each presentation, judges will have two minutes to ask questions,
and then complete their evaluation.
Approved project/presentation categories are as follows: Business
/ E-Commerce, Educational, Engineering/CAD/Manufacturing/Automotive Technology,
Health Tech/Fire/EMT/Biotechnology, Horticulture & Environmental, Programming
Technology, Multimedia Technology, Networking Technology
Registration Deadline:
Friday, February 15, 2008 is
the deadline for registration. All entries must be
completed and received via the on-line registration
process by end the day

Guideline & Participants Rules
:
Guidelines have changed slightly for 2008 so
please read carefully.
- Each instructor may at enter a maximum of two teams.
- A maximum of 100 teams will be allowed to enter the competition.
Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve
basis.
- If 100 teams are not registered by the Friday, February
15, 2008 deadline,
“Open Registration” will occur until Friday, February 29, 2008
- During “Open Registration,” instructors may
an enter additional teams until
the maximum number of 100 teams is reached.
- Each team must consist of a minimum of two students and
a maximum of four students.
- No single/individual projects will be accepted.
- Teams may be comprised of Junior and/or Senior students.
Projects:
Projects must be student-generated with emphasis on presentations
and demonstrations.
Please note that project categories may be broken down into subcategories
depending on final registration totals. The current project categories are
as follows:
- Business Tech/E-Commerce
- Engineering/CAD/Manufacturing/Automotive
Technology
- Health Tech/Fire/EMT/Biotechnolog
- Horticulture & Environmental
Technology
- Information Technology/IS/Programming
- Information Technology/Multimedia
- Information Technology/Networking

Time Limit:
Maximum time limit for a presentation and/or demonstration is
eight minutes minutes. Following the presentation, judges will have five
minutes to ask questions and complete the evaluation.
Space Limitations:
Displays/Presentations must fit within a 10 feet x 10 feet area.
A six-foot table will be provided, however, walls and panels will not.
If you need access to electric outlets and/or have an oversized display
(more than five feet high when displayed), please mark that on your online
registration form.
Materials:
Projects should not involve any flammable or hazardous materials.
Projects should be self-contained; no technical assistance other than electricity
will be provided. Extension Cords, Internet Connections, phone-lines
and surge protectors will NOT be provided.
Judging:
Judges will be independent and recruited from a wide variety
of professional and/or educational backgrounds. Judges will be using a
Rubric Evaluation Form that was developed by a panel of teachers for this

Awards:
Trophies and/or awards will be provided to the 1st place finishers
in all project categories. Certificates of Achievement will be given to
all 2nd and 3rd in all project categories.
All participants will be given a “Participation Certificate” and
Team Photos will be available online for download. Similar to the 2007 Showcase,
raffle prizes will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony. Students must be
present to win raffle prize.
Visitors:
A limit number student groups and/or outside guests will be allowed
to tour the showcase and view student presentations. All visitors and/or
guests must register with the showcase coordinator by February 16, 2008.
