Event Overview:
The 2009 College Tech
Prep Showcase Official Registration will begin Monday,
December 22, 2009 at www.TechPrepShowcase.com. All entries must
be completed and received via the on-line registration process by
end the day. Your registration will appear online under “Current
Registered Project” once you have registered properly. If you
do not see it, your registration was not submitted properly
and you must re-submit it.

Guideline & Participants Rules :
Guidelines have changed slightly for 2009 so please read carefully.
• Each instructor may at enter a maximum of four teams.
• Each
team must consist of a minimum of two students and a maximum
of four students.
• No single/individual projects will
be accepted.
• Teams may be comprised of Junior and/or
Senior students.
• A maximum of 100 teams will be allowed
to enter the competition. Entries will be accepted on a first come
first serve basis.
• If 100 teams are not registered by the Friday, February
13, 2009 deadline, “Open Registration” will occur until
Friday, February 20, 2009.
• During “Open Registration,” instructors
may enter additional teams until the maximum number of 100
teams is reached.
• Projects categories will be finalized after registration
according to specific “career fields” and/or “pathways.”
• It
is extremely important that students remain by their project
until their picture is taken.
Projects:
Projects must be student-generated with emphasis on presentations
and demonstrations. Please note that project categories WILL
be broken down into subcategories depending on official “career
field and/or pathway.” The generalized current project categories
are as follows:
• Business Tech/E-Commerce/ Education
• Engineering/CAD/Manufacturing/Automotive
Technology
• Health Tech/Fire/EMT/Biotechnology
• Horticulture & Environmental
Technology
• Information Technology/IS/Programming
• Information
Technology/Multimedia
• Information Technology/Networking
Time Limit:
Maximum time limit for a presentation and/or demonstration
is eight minutes. Following the presentation, Judges
will have five minutes to ask questions and complete the evaluation.
Space Limitations:
Displays/Presentations must fit within a 10 feet
x 10 feet area. A six-foot table will be provided, however,
walls and panels will not. If you need access to electric
outlets and/or have an oversized display (more than five
feet high when displayed), please mark that on your online
registration form. If it is not marked on your official
registration form, space and/or electric cannot be guaranteed.
Materials:
Projects should not involve any flammable or hazardous
materials. Projects should be self-contained; no technical
assistance other than electricity will be provided. Extension
Cords, Internet Connections, phone-lines and surge protectors
will NOT be provided.
Judging:
Judges will be independent and recruited from a wide variety
of professional and/or educational backgrounds. Judges will
be using a Rubric Evaluation Form that was developed
by a panel of teachers for this specific event. To view

Awards:
Trophies and/or awards will be provided to the 1st place
finishers in all project categories. Certificates of Achievement
will be given to all 2nd and 3rd in all project categories.
All participants will be given a “Participation Certificate” and
Team Photos will be available online for download. It
is extremely important that students remain by their
project until their picture is taken. Similar to the
2008 showcase, raffle prizes will be awarded during the
Awards Ceremony. Students must be present to win raffle
prizes and may only will one prize.
Visitors:
A limit number student groups and/or outside guests will
be allowed to tour the showcase and view student projects
and/or presentations. All visitors and/or guests must
register with the showcase coordinator by February 20,
2009.
